WELLCARE MEDICARE’S 2017 PARTNERSHIP FOR QUALITY PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT

WellCare Health Plans values the quality of health care delivered to its members. The Partnership for Quality Program (P4Q) recognizes providers who collaborate to deliver and appropriately document quality care. The program incorporates HEDIS, Continuity of Care and Pharmacy measures into a singular, comprehensive program.

CMS EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR 2016 PHYSICIAN QUALITY REPORTING SYSTEM (PQRS) ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD (EHR) SUBMISSION

CMS is extending the submission deadline for 2016 Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDA) data submission for the EHR reporting mechanism. Individual eligible professionals (EPs), PQRS group practices, qualified clinical data registries (QCDRs), and qualified EHR data submission vendors (DSVs) now have until March 13, 2017 to submit 2016 EHR data via QRDA. The original submission deadline was February 28, 2017.

2017 MEDICARE TELEHEALTH SERVICE UPDATES

CMS recently updated guidance on modifications to Medicare telehealth reimbursement and coverage for 2017. Directed toward distant site practitioners, the resource covers requirements for telehealth reimbursement and provides a list of currently approved Medicare telehealth codes. Additional covered services in 2017 include End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) services similar to existing covered ESRD services, advanced care planning CPT codes, and critical care consultations using new G-codes.
For services furnished after Jan. 1, 2017, to indicate that a service was furnished from a distant site, physicians and practitioners should use the new Place of Service (POS) code 02: Telehealth.

CMS PROPOSES 2018 PAYMENT AND POLICY UPDATES FOR MEDICARE HEALTH AND DRUG PLANS

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released proposed changes for the Medicare Advantage and Part D Prescription Drug Programs in 2018. The net payment impact of the proposed updates would result in a modest increase of 0.25 percent on average for Medicare Advantage plans, although individual plans’ experiences will vary.
