January 2013

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

1) ACC of NWFL has received a list of an additional 1200 Medicare beneficiaries who have been attributed to us. HFNI’s Provider Relations Representative, Amy, has sent lists of the patients to the appropriate offices for the additional information. If you receive a list from Amy, please respond with the missing information as soon as possible.

2) CMS has released a list of 106 additional ACOs which became effective January 1, 2013. Of these, 16 are in Florida.

3) CMS has decided to re-write the Drug & Alcohol Opt In letter, but it is not ready yet. This had led to us needing to use a new Information Opt Out letter. Please use the Opt Out letter below if you need to provide a copy of the letter to your Medicare beneficiary patients.

Health First Network continues to be focused on how we can support our Physicians and their office staff. At a recent informal luncheon for HFNI office managers, one office inquired if Health First Network could fill a need for their clinical staff by providing continuing education sessions for nurses and other clinical staff in the office, and offer educational sessions on topics related to practice management skills for other staff members in the office to benefit both clinical and back-office staff.

Health First Network appreciated the suggestion from this office and is open to this idea. We’d like to determine if there is interest from other offices in these types of educational “lunch and learn” or a “class-act breakfast” sessions. Please let us know your thoughts and some suggestions for topics that you feel would benefit office staff, and what times would be convenient for you and your staff so Health First Network can assist each office in providing the training needed to be and to have great well-trained, professional employees. HFNI will also need to know the professional association(s) of the office staff members who may be attending so that we may apply for the appropriate continuing education credit for them.

Topics submitted by the original requesting office include the following: when to call HRS or DCF; assertiveness training; communication skills; sterilization procedures for instruments used in the office. We need other suggestions from you.

For these in-services, Health First Network will provide the speakers and food. We need your suggestions on topics and times. Please contact Jenny Caillouet at 438-4487 or Pat Ast at 434-6087 to send along your suggestions.
